Visit of the Vice-President of the Science Council of Japan to the University of Colombo
Professor Ariyaratne, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo met with Dr.FumikoKasuga, Vice-President of the Science Council of Japan and Prof.Cindy Yoshiko Shirata, Member of the Science Council of Asia and Professor of MBA in International Business, University of Tsukuba on the 5thof December 2011 at the University of Colombo.
Prof.Karunaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Finance, Dr.Dharmadasa, Coordinator of the MBA Unit of the Faculty of Management and Dr.Shravika Damunupola Amarasekara, Director International Unit of the University of Colombo were also present at the meeting.
Dr.Kasuga discussed the progress of the Science Council of Japan in the field of scientific research and technology in the Asian Region, while Prof.Shirata highlighted the importance of the Science Council of Asia in the field of science and technology, and discussed the possibility of Sri Lanka’s participation in the Science Council of Asia in the near future.
Prof.Ariyaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Science, elaborated on the many programs of the Faculty of Science conducted towards the enhancement of scientific education, research and technology in Sri Lanka. He also elaborated on the various national bodies and institutes dedicated towards higher education in the field of Science and scientific research.
Dean of the Faculty of Management and Finance, Prof.Karunaratnediscussed potential Collaborations between the University of Colombo and the Tsukuba University through the establishment of an Online-MBA program, to be conducted at the Faculty of Management, University of Colombo in collaboration with the Faculty of International Business of the Tsukuba University.
