Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo met Prof. Joybrato Mukherjee

Prof. KshanikaHirimburegama, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo met Prof. Joybrato Mukherjee, the President of Justus-Liebig University, Giessen, Germany on 30thSeptember 2011 at the University of Colombo. Both universities expressed their pleasure about the success of the existing student exchange programmes between the Departments of English of the universities. New avenues of collaboration and the strengthening of staff exchange were also discussed.

Prof. Brian McGaw, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering from the university of La Trobe Australia and Mr. Nandi Lakshman from the International office of La Trobe university visited the University of Colombo on 05 September 2011 to discuss collaborative links and exchange opportunities between the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo and the Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering of La Trobe University.  The outcome of the discussions was very positive and both parties agreed to strengthen the current cooperation between the two universities.

Delegates from seven leading Japanese Universities attending the Japan education seminar 2011 in Sri Lanka met with the Vice-Chancellor Colombo and the Acting Director of the International Unit on 09 September 2011 to discuss opportunities for collaborative links with the University of Colombo. Representatives from the Universities of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific, Kyoto, Ritsumeikan, Sophia, Tohoku, Tsukuba and Yamaguchi as well as administrators from the Japan International Cooperation Center participated in discussions. University of Colombo is currently in the process of establishing academic exchange and collaborative links with several of these institutions.
