Faculty of Law, University of Colombo wins Moot Court National Competition 2011

Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court  National Competition 2011 was held on the 16th of September 2011 at the  Senate Hall of the University of Colombo. The national championship was  won by the Team of the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo while APIIT  Law School became the runners-up. A Team from the Royal Institute  participated at the Semi final Round of the competition.
The South Asian Regional Edition of the  Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition is to be held in Kathmandu,  Nepal in October 2011, where the national teams of the participating  countries of South Asia will compete. Winners of the Regional Moot Court  Competition will take part in the Asian Moot Court Competition in Hong  Kong.
Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court  National Competition 2011 is organized by the Faculty of Law, University  of Colombo annually, at the request of  the International Committee of  the Red Cross (ICRC) in Sri Lanka.
The Panel of Judges comprised of Hon.  Justice W.P.G. Dep, PC., Judge of the Supreme Court,  Mr. Palitha  Fernanado, PC Additional Solicitor General, and Dr. Mario Gomez,  Director, Environmental Foundation Ltd. Professor Kshanika  Hirimburegama, Vice-Chancellor, university of Colombo and Mr. Yves  Giovanani, Head of Deligation of the ICRC, Sri Lanka graced the occasion  as the Guests of Honour.
Nishadi Wikramasinghe, Micheal Mendis  and Dhanushka Rajaratnam represented the Faculty of Law, University of  Colombo. Mr. N. Selvakkumaran, Dean of the Faculty of Law was the Senior  Advisor of the Moot Court National Competition 2011 and Ms. Wasantha  Seneviratne, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Public and  International Law of the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo was the  Coordinator of this programme.
